Scope of the ISCCB
|
The ISCCB is a group of about 300 scientists worldwide,
who meet every 2 years (see below, list of previous meetings
and places) to present advances in our understanding of
catecholamine biosynthesis, trafficking, storage, release,
and actions. Catecholamines are crucial pathophysiologic
actors in such neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular disease
processes as movement disorders, mood and thought disturbances,
hypertension, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction,
cardiac arrhythmias, and stroke. This important model system
therefore bridges clinical medicine to basic cardiovascular
and neurobiological research. Within the basic sciences,
chromaffin cell biology benefits from advances in neurobiology,
pharmacology, endocrinology, and cardiovascular biology.
The audience will be composed of an international mixture
of senior and junior scientists, as well as pre- and
post-doctoral trainees. These scientists come to learn about
the latest advances in the processes of catecholamine storage,
release, and actions.
